Wastewater

In a wastewater treatment facility, the SENTRY™ signal provides information to the operator of the facility which is not available from other sensors. The SENTRY™ signal provides a real-time indicator of the organic matter present. Knowing the organic matter present allows the plant operator to increase or decrease aeration rates in activated sludge facilities, change recirculation rates in fixed film processes, and adjust the solids retention time to optimize effluent quality and solids handling requirements.

Depending on the process being monitored, the operator can reduce chemical usage in the disinfection and dechlorination processes, can optimize the carbon needed to fuel the denitrification process, and can minimize or eliminate coagulants needed to coagulate orthophosphorous in a secondary or tertiary effluent.
